Fresh Cut will be providing flowers for the following event:

Join us at the Oakland Avenue Urban Farm for a very special Shabbat Experience featuring a discussion with Jackie Victor and Marsha Music about "This Place I Call Home."

Jackie Victor is co-founder of Avalon International Breads and has spoken about the future of Detroit, changing narratives, and her family's connections to the area.

Writer and poet Marsha Music is a self-described "primordial Detroiter," and a "Detroitist." She is a former labor leader and activist, and for many years she has written acclaimed essays, poems and narratives - about the city’s music, and its past and future.

Jackie and Marsha tell stories of their families' histories in Detroit, and how they intersected and diverged with the city's changes.

We are excited to welcome these dynamic speakers, participate in festive Kabbalat Shabbat services with Steve Klaper of Song and Spirit, and enjoy local vegetarian food from Guerrilla Food: Food as Medicine. Kosher meals available upon request.

Please RSVP to julie.rosenbaum@hazon.org by Wednesday, July 20.

This is part of the Michigan Jewish Food Festival Pre-Programming Promotional Series. There is no charge.

Shabbat housing available upon request.
